November 10th Announcments

PPA Points Sheet has been updated. If your name is highlighted, you need to contact Nephy so that we can verify some information with you.
The Fall Winter Social is this Saturday at noon. You can earn up to 5 extra points 3 extra points for bringing food/drink items, 1pt per item. See you there! (Yes it’s 3 max now, sorry for the confusion)
The new agenda has been posted in the forums for those who were not able to get a copy at today’s meeting.
Thanks to everyone who donated canned goods at today’s meeting, good luck on your finals!
October 28th Announcements!

The Photo Gallery got a massive update! Yay for pictures!
The PPA Member Points Sheet recieved an equally massive update! Yay for points! If your name is highlighted or has a questionmark then you should review the notes on the points page and contact Nephy so we can clarify some information with you.
Intramural Vollyball League has started, check out the forums for the team schedule if you signed up to play or want to come out to cheer on the team!
Dont forget to participate in the poll happening in the forums to vote on which day to have our Winter Social in November!
Our next general meeting will be on Tuesday November 10th in the Cougar Den at 6pm!
October 22nd Announcements

We will be working with APhA for Fall Fest and have posted two new volunteer opportunites related to this event.
The first event is the prep happening on Monday October 26th (details here)
The second event is a Costumed Haloween Canned Food Drive happening on Saturday October 31st (details here). You can earn an extra point for this event by wearing a costume! And no, coming in just a PPA shirt as regular PPA student costume does not count as an extra point. (But coming as a warewolf PPA student may earn you an extra point! Make it good!)
Don’t forget we have an upcoming meeting this Tuesday October 27th at 6pm in the Cougar Den! See you there!
October 14th Announcements

The Houston Heart Walk has been added to the upcoming events. Click here for more details and registration.
Via Colori registration is open again however the Saturday shift is no longer available and the Sunday shifts are now full as well. Please check your email to see if you were able to get into the shift that you registered for or if you will need to register for a different shift.
The Memory Walk and The River events have also been filled up. Great work!
If you sign up for an event, please check your email regularly for updates/announcements regarding that event.

New Volunteer Event Added

Bayou City Art Festival
LAST DAY TO REGISTER IS OCTOBER 7th!
- Date: Sunday, October 11th
- Time: 12pm – 4pm
- Location: Tranquility Park (around City Hall downtown)
- Points: 4 points to attend plus 1 point for wearing PPA t-shirt and 1 point for providing carpool for the other members (6 points max).
- What to wear: PPA T-shirt and jeans/shorts with tennis shoes.
- Registration is closed
Carpool: We will all meet at the Parking Lot 1A in front of the Moody Towers at 11:00am and leave at 11:30am. Please do not plan on arriving exactly at 11:30am. We will not be waiting if you come late. Anyone who provides carpool will receive a point and will receive all the information about transportation, parking, and carpool the day of the event.
September 28th Announcements

Our next general meeting is on Tuesday October 27th at 6pm in the Cougar Den
Mock Interview Sign-ups were sent out by Ms. Lewis to all Pre-Pharmacy majors through e-mail. The signup form was also available at last night’s general meeting and will also be available at the PPA social tonight. Only sign up for a mock interview if you are applying to the college of pharmacy for this cycle and only sign up for ONE time slot or your name will be taken off of the list.
Don’t forget you can earn up to 3 points for bringing food or drink items to the PPA Social (6:30pm tonight at the UC Game room). We are giving 1 point per item and all soda items must be Coca-Cola brand.

September 22nd Announcements!

Don’t forget we are renting out the whole UC gameroom for a PPA social at 6:30pm on September 29th!
Intramural Vollyball signups are still available, contact Harin on facebook or through UofHPPA@gmail.com with your PSID by October 18th!
The PPA Points have been updated and posted in an excel file on the Member Points page
A short questionaire has been posted in the forums, under PPA discussion, to help people break the ice and you can earn up to 2 points for filling it out.
If you still need to turn in membership forms/dues or pick up your t-shirt, you can do so at the next meeting on September 28th. After September 28th, membership dues return to $35.

New Volunteer Opportunity added to Events Page

The River Performing Arts and Visual Center
- Dates: October 10th, October 17th, October 31st, and November 14th (all on Saturdays)
- Time: 9:00am – 12:45pm
- Location: The River Performing Arts and Visual Center

****For those who never volunteered with the River, you must attend orientation either on October 10th or November 7th at their center at 8:30am before you can volunteer at one of the following dates. If you have volunteered at the River before then orientation is optional.
****SPOTS ARE LIMITED!!! THE FIRST 10 PEOPLE THAT SIGN UP TO VOLUNTEER WILL GET THE SPOT! There are forms you must fill out before you can volunteer and those will be e-mailed to you once you get the spot. Thank you!

With our first meeting and volunteer event out already past, we are officially on our way! I hope everyone had a good time at our first meeting and enjoyed all the wonderful guest speakers!

A couple of event announcements:
We are having a PPA social event at the UC game room on September 29th from 6:30pm to 9:30pm! We are renting out the whole game room for PPA so come out and enjoy! You can also earn points for this event by bringing food or drinks. One point will be given per item and you may earn points for up to 3 items. All soda beverages must be Coca-Cola brand.
Also, Harin Kalyanji is forming a PPA team to participate in the intramural vollyball league at the UH Rec center! The deadline to sign up is October 18th, you can contact Harin through UofHPPA@gmail.com or through Facebook of you are interested or want more info!
And our next general meeting will be on September 22nd at 6pm in the Cougar Den at the UC!
Don’t forget that our next volunteer opportunity, the Hemophilia Walk is coming up on Saturday, September 19th! It’s from 7:15am to Noon and will be held at Minute Maid Park!
Registration for events is done online. A quick step by step to register is:
- Hover your mouse pointer over Calendar & Events in our top menu bar
- Click on Event Details and Registration in the drop-down menu
- Then scroll down to the event that you wish to register for and click on the “Register Online Here” link and fill out the registration form
- Last but not least, show up to the events on time, easy! :)
