I’m sure the 2010-2011 Officers have many great new ideas to make the 2010-2011 UH Pre-Pharmacy Association even better than this year and will continue to keep PPA exciting! Congratulations again!

The 2009-2010 PPA Officers would like to thank everyone for their fantastic support this year and coming out to all of our wonderful volunteer opportunities and events! The 2009-2010 Officers worked very hard to make PPA a great experience and I hope you feel we succeeded!

I hope everyone had a wonderful time, has a great summer, and is waiting to do it all again next year!

Reminder: Our next general meeting will be on Tuesday, April 13th at 6pm in the Cougar Den!

Those running for an Officer position for next year will be required to give an election speech lasting no longer than 4 minutes. At the end of the the meeting, PPA members will turn in ballots to vote for their 2010-2011 Officers.

You MUST be a paid member and bring an ID to vote. To prevent illegitimate voting, we will be marking off each voter’s name from a list of paid members as the ballots are being turned in.

Don’t forget to sign up for the banquet if you plan on attending! The banquet will be masquerade themed.

Also, if you are attending Rock the Block on April 17th, don’t forget to check your email and turn in your waiver for the event.

Reminder that our next meeting is this coming Tuesday on March 30th at 6pm in the Cougar Den at the UC!

Our guest speaker will be Clinical Oncology Pharmacist Nwabugwu S. Ochuwa!

Also don’t forget that Officer elections are on April 13th at 6pm in the Cougar Den! If you are planning to run for an Officer position, you need to present a 3 to 4 minute speech at this meeting.

And lastly, be sure to double check the Spring PPA Points Sheet and Fall PPA Points Sheet to make sure you name/peoplesoftID/points are correct!

If you don’t sign up, you can still walk in and donate blood to earn a PPA Point, but this makes things easier for us! Thanks! =D

A list of PPA Officer positions and their duties has been posted in the forums. If you plan to run for an officer position, be sure to sign up! Currently there are no eligible members running for President, Treasurer, or Webmaster so sign up before it’s too late!

Be sure to come by our Blood Drive with Gulf Coast Regional Medical Center on Tuesday March 2nd from 8am to 2pm and donate blood! You can earn an extra PPA point, get a super cool t-shirt, and save lives!

Reminder: Our second meeting is coming up on Monday February 15th amd PPA Spring Social is on Tuesday February 16th!

The second meeting will be in the Cougar Den at 6pm and we will have guest speakers Ms. Lewis from the UH College of Pharmacy and the American Red Cross.

Be sure to pay your membership dues and pick up your PPA t-shirt if you have not already. Membership dues are $35.00.

Remember that your name will not be on the active members list sent to the UH College of Pharmacy if you have not paid your membership fees, even if you have accumulated the 25 point minimum per semester.

A new blood drive event with Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center has been added to the Event Details and Registration page but registration will not open until the event details are confirmed. I will update you when the registration has opened!

Also don’t forget to bring food or drink items for extra points (woohoo!) to the PPA Spring Social on February 16th at 6:30pm in the UC game room. Remember that all soft drinks must be Coca-Cola brand.

Reminder that our first meeting is tomorrow January 25th, in the Cougar Den at 6pm! Our guest speakers include Ms. Poliquit, Kaplan Test Prep, and a compounding pharmacist!

Registration for the Houston Food Bank event at JC Penny’s has been opened again so if you were not able to register before, you have a chance to register before it fills up again!

We are having a Spring Social event on February 16th from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at the UC game room. You can earn up to 3 extra points at the event by bringing 3 food or drink items! (1 point per item)

Hope everyone’s semester is going well! Don’t stress out too early!

I hope everyone is enjoying their winter break! A quick heads up, PPA’s first meeting will be on January 25th at 6pm in the Cougar Den at the University Center.

Kaplan will be a guest speaker at the meeting and we will have membership forms available for new members. Don’t forget, the membership fee is $35!

The AIDS Walk, our first volunteer event of the Spring semester has been added to the Events page! Volunteer spots are limited, so sign up early!
